Web
Writing – A Great New Marketing Vehicle
The Web
is the new king of marketing media – particularly business
Web sites. The amount of business related information received from
Web sites has grown exponentially. From daily stock reports to expert
commentary, the appetite for fast, customized, just in time information
seems insatiable. The competition to be the prefered provider of
that information is extreme too. Given the global and digital nature
of business today, other information mediums will increasingly lose
ground to Web based services and sources.
Never published
anything on the Web? Perhaps you’ve heard about how the Web
has constrained and changed the nature of writing today. It’s
informal, brief, disposable and blunt yet it’s the only form
of writing most people have any time to read. If reader’s
use of the Web is because of time pressures, we owe it to them to
deliver the best of the Web right away.
I
hope you’re approaching writing for the Web with a positive
outlook. The negatives will disappear anyway. Times will change
again as computer monitors and printers improve and as interactive
television lets us surf the Web from our living rooms. At some point,
we as writers may regard the Web more as a transmission medium.
Right now, the Web is a golden publishing vehicle not only for wider
distribution of your work, but also the impact of your writing output.
There are more options and more creativity possible.
