Roy Thomson Hall

Another unusual building is the bowl shaped Roy Thomson Hall. It was named after the Canadian newspaper mogul, Baron Thomson of Fleet. Roy Thomson Hall is a world-class auditorium and home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Mendelssohn Choir and other visiting orchestras. It hosts other festivals and shows as well. The orchestral theatre has hosted some great musical performances and the world's most well known performers.

It is located at King and Simcoe Streets, and its 80-foot-high glass roof is stunning even against a downtown skyline filled with skyscrapers.

It has 30,000 feet of floor space and hold almost 3,000 people. The elegant outdoor patio, with a reflecting pool and a number of terraces makes it a calm, picturesque place nestled within the hurried activity of the surrounding financial and commercial district.
