Search Engine Optimization - PageRank AnalysisLinking strategies to Boost PageRank and RelevancyLinking strategies and link analysis are a key component of professional search engine optimization. Let's take a look at some of the key components of link strategies and see how they factor in on some of the high ranking sites on the Web. Google's search engine marketplace share continues to grow in leaps and bounds. That translates into a tremendous amount of search engine visitors for sites that center their search engine optimization strategies on Google. What's especially good about doing so is that your efforts will be rewarded on most of the other search engines. That's because those search engines are taking Google's lead in the use of link popularity and link reputation. Their market share will rebound when they fully convert to Google's successful approach in delivering good search results. That's the product, and a search engine business must build itself around that. Consumers feel cheated when they don't have all the possible results in front of them when they do a search. Everyone expects to have access to the whole world wide web because we all want to leverage its power. We gain access by following links. Google and Link AnalysisIt's well known that search engines count the number of links leading to a particular site. This is "link popularity" aspect of their search engine algorithm. There are many aspects to an alorithm and these are closely guarded secrets. This link popularity factor is called PageRank by Google. It's an ingenious system of counting links and giving each Web page in Google's database a ranking or value. So it's not just how many sites are linking to a site that gives it its rank. High ranking sites have greater voting power and just one vote from a high ranking site can provide substantial boost to a Web page's ranking. The statistical weighting of the PageRank system is not known well and Google can slightly alter it anytime they want. It is likely a logarithmic scale. The scale is from zero to ten, but each level higher is a multiple of the level below. That means if your pagerank is 5 and you have 40 links coming to your Web site, you will need hundreds of more links to move up to a level 6 PageRank. A vote from a high ranking Web page can however, be the equivalent of a hundred low ranking sites. There's more to linking though than just the shear quantity or ranking of inbound links. Google
